New Gloucester caboose cut loose, off to Auburn

Intervale Road passersby on Friday were treated to a glimpse of a crack team from Cote Crane & Rigging as they removed the caboose that’s long been a local landmark across from Memorial School.

According to the Sun Journal, the caboose was built in 1918 and was to travel by flatbed truck from Deb Emery’s Intervale Road home to Dan Giguere’s Locomotive Treehouse Sugarhouse in Danville. Giguere plans to restore the caboose, and it will be in good company.
