We had a terrific walk on Sabbathday Lake last week. Fourteen walkers enjoyed a spectacular blue sky morning snowshoeing or walking or skiing on the fresh snow from the day before. We trekked from Barefoot Beach to the eagles’ nest and were rewarded with a sighting of the eagle pair in a tree not far from the nest. They flew off majestically while we were resting, and were a sight to see against the bright blue of the sky.
We decided to go back to Range Pond State Park to walk on Lower Range Pond on March 8th, 10 am. Fingers crossed for another beautiful day.
Let’s meet at the parking lot farthest to the right, nearest the playground. I hope the road is plowed all the way to that parking area after this last storm. If not, we will have to park by the entrance and walk in. You can find location information here [Location: 26 State Park Road (off the Empire Rd. in Poland). Lat 44.038031 / Lon -70.342181]
Please dress for the weather and the walking conditions of the day. Snow shoes or grippers or skis will work.
Have a good week. Stay safe and keep active.
