Voting today is for both the presidential primaries and Question 1.
• If you’re not registered to vote, you can register at the polls.
• Registered but not enrolled in a party?
– You can vote on Q1, but not in the presidential primary.
– You can vote in the primary by changing your registration from “unenrolled” to a party at the polls. (You can change back after 90 days if you choose.)
• What is Question 1?
“Do you want to reject the new law that removes religious and philosophical exemptions to requiring immunization against certain communicable diseases for students to attend schools and colleges and for employees of nursery schools and health care facilities?” A YES vote supports overturning the law eliminating philosophical or religious exemptions that is scheduled to take place in 2021. A NO vote supports the law allowing only medical exemptions. For a good explanation of both sides of this issue, see this article in the Press Herald.
