There was a good turnout for Vision Zero workshop hosted by GPCOG (Greater Portland Council of Governments) at the Gray Library on November 29.
Vision Zero is an international effort to reduce traffic injuries and fatalities to ZERO. Gray and New Gloucester, along with several other inland communities and three islands are part of an initiative to assess the traffic safety issues in these communities and develop an action plan. This will lead to eligibility for funds to address pressing safety issues from the US Safe Streets and Roads initiative. New Gloucester town planner Kathy Tombarelli and BLING volunteer Deb Smith serve on the Vision Zero advisory group.
Check out the Vision Zero webpage, sign up for updates, complete a survey and identify your traffic safety concerns on their interactive map. Your responses will help to identify key issues.
You can also join a virtual workshop on December 6 at noon.
