Veterans Monument Committee seeks funds for granite fence posts

After a December 21, 2018 automobile accident broke one of the granite fence posts, and a few snowmobiles riding across the Monument and almost hitting one of the front Monument lights, the New Gloucester Veterans Monument Committee is very concerned that there could be more damage to the Monument.

The Committee has decided that the current front posts will be moved back closer to the Monument and then continue along both sides of the Monument to hopefully prevent snowmobiles from riding too close or onto the Monument.

The Veterans Monument Committee would prefer not to use the funds the Veterans Monument has on hand, as these funds are used for adding the names of Veterans each year at no cost and to purchase a wreath for the Memorial Day Service.

The cost of the additional granite posts needed is approximately $3,500, so we are asking for some help with this project.

Donations can be made payable to New Gloucester Veterans Monument at P.O. Box 531, New Gloucester, ME 04260.

Thank you very much for your help with making sure the New Gloucester Veterans Monument is protected.
