Two New Gloucester residents, Eric Ritter and Emily Bastian, are featured in “We Make It, You Own It,” a video series by LL Bean. Each video focuses on an individual’s work, but also a Bean product they love.
NGX contacted Eric Ritter to ask how these profiles came about. He explained that friends who work for Beans, and know him and his work, suggested him for this series on artists and small business people. There were planning meetings, and then a production crew spent a day in his shop. “There were 40 people from all over! I chose my old LL Bean sweater, which has shrunk over the years, and they gave me a new one to wear for the video.”
Eric Ritter is a furniture maker who grew up in Freeport and has a shop in the barn of his old farmhouse on Intervale Road. He makes furniture, cabinets and other creative projects.

Emily Bastian grew up in New Gloucester and has been fly fishing since she was 8. She has worn Bean boots since she was a child. Emily is co-founder of the Native Fish Coalition and assistant manager of LL Bean’s Hunt and Fish Store.
