Transportation update MSAD 15

Re: Transportation Follow-Up

The response from families regarding their willingness to transport their children to and from school was overwhelmingly positive. It is heartening to see how our community never fails to pitch in and help with challenges we face.

Please allow me to elaborate on our current transportation status:

Dunn, Russell, and Memorial Schools:
• We will continue to rely on parents who currently transport their children to continue to do so.
• We will rely on the parents who volunteered in the survey to begin transporting their children.
• We will be able to transport all remaining Dunn, Russell, and Memorial students.
• Buses will be full and transportation time will be longer.
• If you did not volunteer to transport your Dunn, Russell, or Memorial children in the first survey, you can still volunteer to do so through the blue survey link.
• By November 29, 2021, you will receive more specific information and details from the MSAD 15 Transportation Department and building principals.

Middle School/High School:
• We still need fifty fewer middle and high school students on the buses.
• If you are a parent who can transport your high schooler/middle schooler or provide some other transportation alternative, please volunteer do so through the blue survey link.
• If we are unable to find fifty fewer students, our options will involve implementing some form of remote and hybrid learning for our middle and/or high school students. It is something we would very much like to avoid; however, the bus driver shortage is so dire it leaves us with no other options.

We will review the survey data Sunday evening (Nov. 21) to find out how many more parents are able to transport their children or provide alternative transportation. I will send an update to the entire school community on Monday (Nov 22).

Once again, thank you for your continued willingness to help our school district with this difficult problem.
