Another good-sized group walked the Knight’s Pond Preserve in Cumberland last week. We enjoyed some water views of a small pond and had a short, uphill hike to Bruce Hill (447 feet) while completing one of the loop trails at the Preserve. It was a warm, humid day and we all needed a good drink of water by the end of the walk.
Our next walk will be on Wednesday, June 12, 10 a.m. to Aurelia Cascades on the Shaker Village property. After we cross the Cascades, we will follow the trail along the shore of Sabbathday Lake which loops back to the brook at the old girls’ cabin. We will meet at Outlet Beach at 106 Outlet Road in New Gloucester. Parking will be along the road on the lake side. Please watch for traffic as you walk along the road.
This mostly gradual, moderate trail is in the woods, so please be prepared for walking on leaves and roots. The bugs and ticks are certainly out this time of year!
Stay active and safe.
