The group was glad to be in the woods on the Old Camp Trail at Range Pond State Park last week. The path follows the shoreline of Lower Range Pond and we saw a couple of very large trees that toppled into the water over the winter. It was a pretty day and I heard lots of chatter while everyone carefully navigated the rooted trail.
Beth found out from Ed Doughty, who manages the Thayer Brook Preserve trail, that now is the time to hike there. That’s why I decided to change the walk destination previously discussed. Ed will join us for part of our Wednesday walk this week.
Please meet on Wednesday, April 24, at 10 a.m. at Thayer Brook Preserve, 92 Ramsdell Road in Gray. Thayer Brook Preserve is 147 acres owned and managed by the Royal River Conservation Trust and connects to the Libby Hill trail network. You can find a map here.
The woods are still somewhat wet and strewn with leaves. Please dress for the conditions – muddy trails and possibly some ticks.
Stay safe and active,
Anne Maurice
