Trail walk at Shaker Bog Wednesday July 17

Wednesday Walkers take a water break en route to Sabbathday Lake Shore Trail (photo by Ali Naqui)

The heat kept a lot of our walkers inside last week,  but a small group enjoyed a gentle breeze along the Sabbathday Lake Shore Trail.  We all stayed hydrated and took our time while soaking up the pretty views along the lake.

We are going to stay close to water again this week and walk the 1 mile round trip trail at the Shaker Bog on Wednesday, July 19, 10 a.m.  There are opportunities for a longer walk through Shaker Village for those who want more steps.  The access is from Route 26 (Maine Street) just north of the Outlet Road/Quarry Road intersection.  Parking is very limited off Route 26 so I’m suggesting to park on the dead end section of Shaker Road (old route 26). We can cross Maine Street from there.  More information can be found here.

As always, come prepared for the weather and hiking conditions.  It looks like our hot weather is with us again this week.

Stay safe and active.
