Last week the Wednesday Walkers had a vigorous two-mile walk on the Pineland Farm campus down the hill to the education barn and back up to parking lot near Rt. 231. It was mostly dry and it felt good to be outside before all the rain came.
We are finally going back into the woods this week. We will meet at Range Pond State Park in Poland on Wednesday, April 17th, 10 a.m. I went over to the Park yesterday to see how muddy the trails were and how many trees might be across the paths. We have a couple of choices – we can stay on the dirt road leading to the Poland Springs Bottling Plant or we can walk the Old Camp Trail along the lakeshore which is mostly cleared from downed trees and has a couple of wet spots. There are lots of roots and natural debris on the trail.
Let’s meet in parking area behind the bath house/restroom building which is near the beach. You can find directions to the Park here.
Please come prepared for the weather and the walking conditions.
Stay active and safe,
Anne Maurice
