The Thayer Brook trail was a good choice for last week. The trail is well maintained. We enjoyed a sunny day and there were birds for the birdwatchers and a beaver in the bog.
We decided to hike in the Poland Conservation Area Lands in Poland on Wednesday, June 18. The trails are a wooded network that lead walkers to a vernal pool, a quarry, rare white oak trees, and a cave. We will meet at the Ricker Library trailhead, at 1211 Maine St., Poland, at 10 a.m. The trailhead is behind and to the right of the library.
