We had a terrific winter walk at Pineland Public Reserved Land last week. The snow-laden trees and the snow-covered ground provided a pretty landscape and reminded me why I spend winters in Maine. The trail was an easy walk and it was well trod by those before us. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for more beautiful winter walks.
Our next walk will be on Wednesday, February 7, 10 a.m. to Aurelia Cascades on the Shaker property. After we cross the Cascades, we will continue along the lakeside trail which follows the shoreline. We will meet at Outlet Beach on Outlet Road in New Gloucester. There is parking on the lakeside as well as along the road. Please watch for traffic as you leave your car.
Please come prepared for a snow covered trail and possibly some icy spots. Ice grippers and/or snow shoes might be helpful.
