Town Meeting warrant, Town Hall HVAC, Library roof on Select Board agenda

At their April 1 meeting, the Select Board are slated to review and finalize the warrant for the May 6 town meeting, open bids for replacing the heating/cooling system at Town Hall and review a revised RFP for repairs to the Library roof that includes returning its bell tower. 

The board will also consider a further-revised application from the Economic Development Committee for New Gloucester to be designated an Age-Friendly Community by AARP and consider proclamations to recognize the service and dedication of several town departments.

Proposed Town Meeting warrant.  The board will do its second and final review of the Annual Town Meeting warrant that voters —in effect, the proposed agenda for the May 6 meeting.  Voters will consider the FY25 budget and several revisions to the Town’s zoning ordinance. Find the proposed warrant at pp.26-38.

Town Hall HVAC bid opening. The board extended the deadline to bid on replacing Town Hall’s heating and cooling system to April 1. A previous try in March yielded only one bid. Read the bid documents at pp.6-9.

EDC revised application for Age-Friendly designation. In March the board deadlocked over an application from the Economic Development Committee for the Town to seek designation as an Age-Friendly Community from AARP. The designation would make the community eligible for grants and other resources as part of a statewide and national network.  Read the revised application at pp.14-19.

Repairs to the Library roof.  The board will consider a revised RFP for repairs to the Library roof after a prior effort created confusion over what exactly the contractors were proposing to do. The updated RFP makes clear that the bell tower is to be removed and returned to its place once the new roof is on. Read the RFP at pp.10-12.

Town Departments to celebrate special ‘Week.’ The board will consider three proclamations to recognize the work and commitment of several departments:

  • Professional Municipal Clerks Week: May 5 through 11
  • Public Works Week: May 19-25
  • Emergency Medical Services Week: May 19-25
