Our walk at the Poland Spring Preservation Park last week proved to be a good choice with all the rain we’ve experienced. A good-sized group walked the Togo trail in the woods and then went onto the roadway near the World’s Fair building. We all enjoyed getting outside for a bit between the storms.
Our next walk is on Wednesday, June 21, at 10 a.m. at Thayer Brook Preserve, 92 Ramsdell Road in Gray. Thayer Brook Preserve is 147 acres owned and managed by the Royal River Conservation Trust and connects to the Libby Hill trail network. The group had a good hike there at the end of May and found herons and their nests so we decided to go back to check on the birds. You can find a map here.
Come prepared for walking in the woods where there will be roots and probably wet, loose leaves on the trail. With the weather getting warmer this week, the bugs will be out.
Stay safe and active,
Anne Maurice
