Select Board to consider new committees, paving, ambulance repairs

The agenda for their first meeting of 2022 has the Select Board following up on recent items and considering new ones. The January 3 meeting begins at 7 pm in the Meetinghouse and will be broadcast on NGTV and live-streamed at this link.

Items returning to the board’s agenda include

— a request to establish an ad hoc Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee to further goals in the town’s Comprehensive Plan;
— a request to establish an ad hoc Age-friendly/Livable Community Committee, also envisioned in the Comprehensive Plan;
— considering spending $22,000 in ARPA funds to repair the town ambulance; and
— proposed updates to the Code Enforcement Office fee schedule for services and permits.

The board will also consider a revised paving schedule for FY23 totaling $477,700. Under it, parts of Snow Hill Road, Sabbathday Road, Penney Road, and Jack Hall Road would be paved. Gloucester Hill Road, originally slated for next year, would be deferred to FY24.

New items on the agenda include
— revisiting the 2019 Public Safety Compensation Policy [Fire Rescue], as its accompanying wage schedules no longer reflect current pay rates or the applicable minimum wage; and
— a request that the town seek $30,000 in grant funding for internet access for residents of Beaver Dam Road (off Tobey Road). The grant, through ConnectME, would help bring internet to 10 homes.
