For their first meeting of September, the Select Board returns to an agenda that includes next steps on several familiar topics:
— an update on plans for the Upper Village;
— an update on the project for permanent bathrooms at the Fairgrounds, including a memo addressing waste management options (pp. 39-40);
— bid documents for a Fire Rescue command vehicle (pp.27-32), and
— hoped-for bids to do exterior paint/stain work at the Town Hall Complex (pp. 33-37).
The board will also discuss finalizing the proposed Public Safety Advisory Group, its status, meetings, and possible outreach to MDOT on MDOT’s study of and recommendations for the Lower Village intersection. A separate agenda item has an update on traffic concerns on Outlet Road.
Along with making a slew of new appointments (pp. 49-58), the Board will consider creating a committee to assist in developing “a fair and transparent application and appointment policy” for boards and committees, something the Charter requires the Board to adopt and periodically revisit.
In addition, the board will hear an update from Michael O’Donnell, the Town’s Assessors’ Agent, on the repeal of the property tax stabilization program for Maine seniors and newly expanded alternative tax relief programs (pp. 5-6).
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Meetinghouse and will be broadcast on local cable and live-streamed at this link.
