Select board announces new Town Manager

New Gloucester – Karen L. Gilles, Chairman, and the Board of Selectmen for the Town of New Gloucester, are extremely pleased to announce the appointment of Christine M. Landes, as Town Manager. She will start a three-year contract on May 10, 2021, with a base salary of $92,500.

Christine comes to the town with twenty-three years of municipal service, previously holding such positions as Town Clerk, Tax Collector, Deputy City Clerk, Town Manager, and most recently, City Manager for the City of Gardiner. Her education includes an undergraduate in Public Administration and a master’s in business with a concentration in Public Administration. She is currently enrolled in the Organizational Leadership master’s program at the University of Southern Maine. Christine lives in Gardiner with her husband Travis. In her spare time, she likes to have her grandchildren visit, relax by the lake, read, play with her dogs, and travel.

In a statement, Christine said, “I am looking forward to working with the team in New Gloucester, along with serving and representing the Board of Selectmen, residents, taxpayers, and businesses of the town. I have always held an open-door policy. I welcome anyone to come and discuss concerns, bring forth suggestions, and relay compliments regarding town business or issues. As New Gloucester’s financial steward, I will ensure that my conscientious and transparent fiscal manner of tax-payer’s dollars and municipal resources are put into good use in New Gloucester.”

The New Gloucester Selectmen were aided in the search with the help of John McGough, Labor and Employment Consultant, from Norman, Hanson, and DeTroy LLC of Portland.

Christine M. Landes, newly appointed New Gloucester Town Manager
