The MSAD 15 school board is hosting two community meetings this month to share updates about facilities improvement bond projects currently in development.
The bond project focuses on four areas: an air quality project; cafeteria/kitchen, stage, and performing arts renovations at the High School; and improvements to athletic fields and to the gym.
Project designers and architects will present current draft plans and drawings, and the public will have an opportunity to comment and ask questions.
Two information sessions with Q&A time will be held:
- Wednesday, July 17, at 6:30 p.m. at GNG High School, 10 Libby Road in Gray, and
- Monday, July 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial School, 86 Intervale Road in New Gloucester.
The bond initiative is being led by a 12-member committee comprising teaching and administrative staff, school board members and community members. Formed in late 2023 and tasked with identifying needs, priorities and possible solutions, the bond committee has built on pre-Covid work and, this winter and spring, solicited input from teachers, students and other stakeholders and held multiple community listening sessions.
Among priority concerns that emerged were crowded cafeteria space/outdated kitchen facilities, inadequate performing arts spaces for classes and programs, overused athletic fields, and gym facilities unable to meet demand.
Now, with committee and board discussions continuing, and architects’ sketches and conceptual plans drafted to address the needs, the board is again inviting the community’s input.
Come learn more about the bond project, the facilities needs and possible solutions, at the July 17 meeting at GNG High School or the July 22 meeting at Memorial School. Both meetings begin at 6:30 p.m.
