It was a two-wrecker afternoon on Saturday in the Lower Village, as a Jeep SUV entering the intersection from Cobbs Bridge Road collided with a Subaru Outback heading southbound down Intervale Road (Route 231). The collision occurred around 4:15 p.m.
New Gloucester Fire Rescue responded promptly, helping clear the vehicles from the intersection and direct traffic. The Cumberland County Sheriffs Office arrived a short time later.
No one was injured or transported. As the drivers waited for the wreckers to arrive, a deputy commented that the low speeds of both cars made all the difference in a collision that “could have been much worse.”
