Salt and sand shed removal, snowmobile trail, new committees, floodplain ordinance on Feb. 5 agenda

Removal of the old salt and sand shed in the Upper Village, a request from Royal River Snowmobile Club to establish a trail across town-owned property bordering Swamp Road, and a comprehensive floodplain ordinance are among items on the Select Board’s February 5 agenda.

The Board will also consider creating a new Ad hoc Senior Housing Options Committee, developing a charge for the recently-formed Ad Hoc Municipal Complex Advisory Committee and making appointments to that committee and others.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Meetinghouse and will be broadcast on local cable and live-streamed at this link.

— The Royal River Snowmobile Club wants to establish a trail across a Town-owned parcel by Swamp Road and Chandler Mill Road, near the Turnpike overpass. The parcel is at Map 6 Lot 29. The proposed trail would let snowmobilers avoid about 500 feet of travel on Chandler Mill Road (pp.21-22);

— A proposed 2024 fee schedule for Code Enforcement and Planning Department activities will be considered. The goal is to ensure that charges are consistent, in line with those of neighboring communities and reflect the work involved. Find the proposed updated fee schedule at pp.23-27;

— The annual list of roads to be posted against heavy loads, as “spring” approaches. The weight limit is 23,000 lbs (pp.51-52);

— A proposed Floodplain Management ordinance and associated documentation. For residents to be eligible for insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program, municipalities must commit to flood management, permitting and prevention practices (pp.28-46); and
