Sabbathday Lake Association meeting features presentation on loons

Sabbathday Lake Association, a Non-profit, environmentally oriented, charitable organization formed to protect the water quality and natural ecosystem of Sabbathday Lake, will be hosting their annual general meeting on Saturday August 12th at 9:00am.  Meet at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 354 Sabbathday Road outside in the picnic pavilion. (Please bring your own chair and insect spray if needed.)

This year’s presentation will be by “Look Out for Loons.” Learn about the natural history of loons, risks they face and simple things that will go a long toward protecting loons while we enjoy our lakes and ponds.  Look Out for Loons (LOFL) is an education and outreach effort to help nesting loons succeed by decreasing threats to loon families.  The program is part of the Maine Loon Restoration Project, an effort led by Maine Audubon with partners from Maine Lakes, Lakes Environmental Association, and the Penobscot Nation to restore loon lives lost from a 2003 oil spill.
