Road closure for Lower Village trick-or-treating, budget planning ahead at Select Board

Halloween is on the agenda at the Select Board’s October 2 meeting. The board will consider a proposal from Parks and Recreation and NG Fire Rescue to close a portion of Route 231/Intervale Road from 5 to 8 p.m. for safer trick-or-treating in the Lower Village. Read about the plan at pp.18-19 of the meeting agenda packet.

The board will also discuss possible ‘budget parameters’ for the FY25 municipal budget, now in development. Find last year’s parameters at p. 33, along with proposed meeting schedules for the Capital Improvement Committee and Budget Committee (pp.33-35), starting in November.

Other October 2 items:

— An update on finances for Parks & Recreation programs, including the Kids Club before-and-after-school program will be shared with the board (pp.13-17).

— Revisions to the Bylaws for Boards and Committees will be discussed. The Bylaws set out rules for the conduct and location of meetings, for notices and agendas, quorums and member attendance, public comment, and more for all town committees and boards, including the Select Board. Find the version of the Bylaws under discussion at pp.24-32.

— Bid opening for a command vehicle for Fire Rescue (pp.4-8) and award of the contract to paint and stain exteriors of five buildings at the Town Hall Complex (pp.6-12).
