RE: Revised Calendar
Unfortunately, we suffered a significant storm that caused us to cancel school on April 4 & 5, 2024. In our commitment to providing MSAD 15 children their education, we will make up those two days. The last student day will now be Friday, June 21, 2024 (an early release day). As mentioned in my memo on March 28, 2024, we have received a waiver from the Maine Department of Education for the law requiring a minimum of 175 student days. Under this updated plan, students will have 174 school days during the 2023-2024 school year.
While the extension of the school year may not be ideal, we are committed to ensuring that the education of MSAD 15 children remains our priority. Our dedicated teachers and administrators will develop creative lesson plans and activities to engage students in innovative ways, ensuring these makeup days are rewarding and valuable. Teachers and administrators will have the latitude to develop teaching and learning activities by making use of our indoor and outdoor facilities. Teachers and administrators will have the flexibility to create curriculum-based lessons that are meaningful, fun, and resonate with students.
As of now, the last week of school will be as follows:
- June 17 – Full School Day
- June 18 – Full School Day
- June 19 – No School (Juneteenth Holiday)
- June 20 – Full School Day
- June 21 – Last Day of School, Early Release Day
We will revisit this plan and send further communication if we have any more non-remote no school days.
