Pineland Farms announces Outdoor & Fitness Center coming to former YMCA building

Pineland Farms recently announced that its current Outdoor Center operations will move to the former YMCA and expand to become “The Outdoor & Fitness Center at Pineland Farms.” Pineland hopes to re-open in the new building, located at 25 Campus Drive, on November 1. A Grand Re-opening Celebration is slated for December 5.

Along with a front desk for sales and information, the new space will allow more room for winter and summer gear rentals and the disc golf shop. New will be a ski lodge large enough for picnic tables, cubbies to store gear, a fireplace, and access to locker rooms with bathrooms and showers.

Pineland’s announcement mentions gym memberships “in the future” for access to the basketball court and to fitness equipment. Staff member Deven Pendexter elaborated on that part of the plan in a call with NGX. Replacement fitness equipment is in the works, Pendexter said, but supply-chain issues make it difficult to predict just when that will happen. He said that Pineland Recreation also is aware of the many pickleball enthusiasts and hoops fans eager to return to the court.

The pool will not be re-opened due to insurance and staffing reasons, Pendexter said. Instead, the area will become part of the new warming area for skiers. Pineland hopes to keep the bowling lanes, he said.

Expanded programming will likely also be part of the mix for the Center “down the road,” Pendexter said. For now, staff are focused on making the move to the new space and settling in.
