An updated paving and chip seal plan, bid opening for a replacement ambulance, collaboration with Gray on Parks and Recreation programs, and tech and wiring upgrades are among items on the agenda for the Select Board’s October 17 meeting.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Meetinghouse and will be broadcast on local cable and live-streamed on Town Hall Streams at this link.
Paving and chip seal plans. Public Works Director Ted Shane’s updated schedule lays out roads proposed for paving and chip sealing in FY23, along with projected costs. In all, 11 roads or road segments are proposed for attention, prices and funds permitting. Find the full list at p. 21 of the revised meeting agenda packet.
Ambulance bids. Bids for a replacement ambulance will be opened. In a previous round of bids In August, the board nearly committed to a new $353,000 unit but split over how to cover the balance needed above the $250,000 budgeted. Have prices have gone down, gone up or stayed the same in the intervening weeks? Monday will tell. Read the bid package at pp. 87-96.
New Gloucester and Gray Parks & Rec collaboration. The New Gloucester and Gray Parks & Recreation Departments jointly offer programs, and the department directors and both towns’ leaders have been discussing the terms of the collaboration. The Select Board will consider the latest draft Memorandum of Understanding between the towns with revisions by NG’s town attorney at the October 17 meeting. Review the current MOU draft at pp. 22-27.
Tech and system upgrades. As the town upgrades outdated broadcast technology in the Meetinghouse and phone and internet systems in town buildings, related needs like outdated wiring need attention. The board will consider several items regarding ancillary work and equipment and additional staff support. Review the items at pp. 55-74.
More seats for committees? The board will consider whether to add seats to the Environmental Resources, Parks and Recreation and Community Fair Committees. With board liaisons no longer voting members, those committees have even numbers of members. Learn more at pp. 51-54.
