Optimist Club essay contest with $2,500 scholarship prize

The Lewiston/Auburn Optimist Club, the Tri-Town Optimist Club, and the Gray-New Gloucester Optimist Club are each sponsoring an essay contest on the topic “Optimism: How it connects us.”

Each Club winner will advance to the New York-New England District contest, where the scholarships will be awarded.  This scholarship contest gives young people the opportunity to develop their written skills and express their personal opinions about the world they live in.

Contest essays are due to the local Optimist Club by Feb. 10, 2024

The guidelines require that contestants be under the age of 19 as of October 1, 2023 and attending school in the United States, Canada, or the Caribbean. Find details about the essay contest on the national Optimist International website at this link.

For an application and set of rules, contact any Optimist Club member, call (207) 783-5269 or email gwmathews91@gmail.com.
