No community fair this year

|Peter Bragdon, NG Community Fair Committee Chair|

I am following up on cancellation of the fair. The board of selectmen Monday night asked that we see if we can find a way to still have the fair.  As you know the state is still at gatherings of less than 50 people for Cumberland county.  The fair last year had approximately 1600 people in attendance during a six-hour period. It was projected that we could increase that number by at least a few hundred people this year.

I spoke in detail  with the town manager yesterday to see if the fair is feasible.  While we probably could put on the fair and have it reasonably safe, we don’t believe we’ll be able to meet State guidelines in doing so. As a leader, I need to leave my personal opinions out and follow the rules in this matter. With that said, the decision stands and we will not be having the community fair on August 15th, 2020.
I will be working with Morgan and the town office on refunds. We will watch how things progress and see if any smaller-scale event can be held later in the fall.
