General Incident Description: At 0914hrs, New Gloucester Fire Alarm transmitted a still alarm for a motor vehicle accident on the Maine Turnpike (I-95) in the area of Mile Marker 73. New Gloucester Engine 2 and Ambulance 1 responded with a combined crew of 5 personnel. Ambulance 1 arrived on scene first and reported a vehicle well off the roadway. There was considerable damage to the vehicle with one injury to the driver. Ambulance 1’s crew, with the assistance of bystanders, began removing the patient from the vehicle. Engine 2 arrived on scene shortly after and assisted the crew from Ambulance 1 in getting the patient to the ambulance.

Ambulance 1 transported the patient to Central Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, delivering the patient to definitive care in 40 minutes from the time of the tone. Engine 2 remained on scene for a while longer before clearing and turning the scene over to Maine State Police.

Injuries: One transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

PSA: We would like to thank the bystanders who stopped to aid the occupant of the vehicle. Often times individuals call 911, report an emergency, and continue on their way. Taking a few minutes, if one is able to, and safely stopping to check on a potential emergency is an exceptional act of kindness.
