General Incident Description: At 18:59, New Gloucester Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles.  New Gloucester Engine 2 went in route immediately as they were on the road returning from Station Coverage in Auburn.  While enroute, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office reported that there were two patients and entrapment.  A second ambulance and additional fire apparatus for manpower was requested from Gray Fire Rescue.

New Gloucester E-2 was first on scene and found two vehicle with heavy damage and a patient entrapped in one of the vehicles.  New Gloucester A-1 arrived right behind Engine 2 and began assessing the patient from the second Vehicle.  Engine 2’s crew began assessing the vehicle containing the trapped patient and began operations to extricate the patient.  Gray Fire Rescue arrived on scene and assisted with extrication and patient care.  Extrication of the patient required removing the door and some of the roof, and rolling the dashboard of the vehicle to free the patient.

Crews remained on scene to provide traffic control while the Sheriff’s Office investigated and until the vehicle could be removed by a wrecker.  All companies were back in service by 20:19.
