NG community food pantry in summer

A bright new sign at the corner of Church Road and Gloucester Hill Road not only indicates the location and hours of the New Gloucester community food pantry, but is a reminder that the food pantry supports residents year-round.

Summer does bring some changes, as Rev. Linda Gard told NGX.  One is more local produce.  Gard said the food pantry is happy to again purchase fresh produce from Liberation Farm, supplementing produce regularly donated by the Gray Hannaford.  “On occasion,” she added, “we receive excess garden produce from folks in town.”

Gard noted that the pantry also aims to provide high-quality protein in the foods they distribute.  They would like to find a reasonably priced source for professionally processed ground beef.  If you can help, please contact Rev. Gard at the church office: 926-3260.

The NG community food pantry is open to residents the second and fourth Saturdays each month from 8 to 9:30 am. It is located behind the First Congregational Church, 19 Gloucester Hill Road.
