Incident Synopsis:

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of #132 Lewiston Road in New Gloucester for a reported EMERGENCY VEHICLE CRASH.

The Crash involved a Town of New Gloucester Ambulance and no other vehicles. The New Gloucester Ambulance was in the process of transporting a patient to the Maine Medical Center from an unrelated incident when it went off the road and into a ditch.

The patient on board the New Gloucester Ambulance was transferred to an Ambulance from the Town of Gray. The Gray Ambulance completed the transport of New Gloucester’s patient to Maine Medical Center in Portland. The patient sustained no injury as a result of this incident.

The Ambulance had pulled off to the side of the roadway to stop when the snow covered ground collapsed causing the Ambulance to come to rest in the ditch.

The two EMS Healthcare Providers from New Gloucester on board the Ambulance at the time it went off the road were checked on scene and transported to Central Maine Medical Center for precautionary purposes only by New Gloucester Fire/EMS but none of them reported any serious injury.

The New Gloucester Ambulance sustained no reportable damage, was removed from the ditch and was driven away from the scene. Speed was not a factor in the crash and there will be no charges as a result of this incident.
