Re: Co-Curricular Update – COVID-19

Thank you for your patience regarding winter co-curricular programming.

We are very pleased students will be able to participate in these activities. However, we can’t let our guard down. We are still in a pandemic and all students, coaches, parents, and staff must maintain a high level of caution regarding health and safety, particularly in-person, in-school programming.

The health and safety guidelines are essentially the same for athletics and other co-curricular activities as they are during the academic school day and remain a priority:

  • Limited and restricted movement in the building
  • Face masks at all times
  • Frequent hand washing
  • Social distancing
  • Daily Self-Screening

We will monitor daily our ability to offer in-person activities based on existing local conditions. Activities may be postponed or suspended on a short-term basis as per local conditions. The local decision-making process will include the following factors:

  • Cumberland County “color code” risk level released every other Friday
  • Cumulative Gray/New Gloucester COVID-19 cases published by the Maine CDC
  • “Community Spread” data published by the Maine CDC
  • Weekly meetings of the Cumberland County Superintendents’ Association
  • Systematic tracking of all MSAD 15 student absences
  • Systematic tracking of all MSAD 15 employee absences
  • Review of local conditions by the MSAD 15 administrative team
  • Risk variations associated with the nature of the activity
