New Gloucester- Our Beloved Lyle Eugene Wing, 40, passed on October 19th, 2023. He will leave a tremendous pain to everyone he touched. Anyone that knew Lyle can appreciate his genuine kind heart, and old soul. He had a fondness for anything old. He was deeply spiritual in his own way, constantly posting pictures and sayings on his page. He was a musician, and played in several bands over the years with schoolmates and friends. Lyle had many jobs, but his favorites was when he helped others. As a CADC counselor he had an insight to the problems of substance abuse, and applied his training to make a difference. As a BHP, he helped intellectually disabled individuals with their activities of daily living.
Lyle was always focused on building a better life for himself and his 5-year-old daughter. Recently Lyle seemed to be accomplishing that goal. Lyle was attending Northeast Technical Institute, training to get his CDL. He had an unforgettable laugh, and his humor was catching. He inspired his nieces and nephews with his ability to get down to their level and play like a kid. The highlight of the family BBQs was when he would open his car trunk, and break out the water and nerf guns. Family get togethers will not be the same without him.
Lyle was fortunate to grow up next to an aunt and cousins, creating memories that would stay with all. Lyle was an avid book reader; who does that anymore-hence, the old soul. That he was! He had a compassion for the homeless, making friends wherever he could. This man will be sadly missed, and the only consolation to the living will be knowing he is arm and arm with family and friends who have passed before him.
Lyle is survived by his daughter, Jovie Thompson. His mother Trudy Emch, and lifelong partner David MacDonald and his father George B. Wing Jr., Sisters-Michaela MacDonald, Marisa MacDonald, Kiersten Wing and Nichole Clark, her partner Lee Trevains and her mother Beverly Clark. Also, a brother Justin Wing and grandfather Gilbert Emch. Lyle had many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many near and dear to him friends.
He is predeceased by his paternal grandmother and grandfather, Thelma and George Wing Sr. A maternal grandmother, Rita Emch, and by his good friend Joey Gagnon, and lastly, his beloved cat Gene.
