A revised draft ordinance to regulate large solar energy systems will be the focus of the Land Management Planning Committee’s final meeting of 2019, on Wednesday Dec. 18 at 5:30 pm at the Meetinghouse. The draft that LMPC will discuss can be found below.

LMPC and town planner Scott Hastings have spent recent months developing working drafts, taking public comment, and fine-tuning. Review criteria, siting, and decommissioning and removal of ground-mounted solar arrays have been among the concerns. The most recent revisions reflect a move away from a stand-alone solar ordinance and instead add new provisions to the town’s current zoning ordinance. This will result in greater clarity and consistency with existing provisions, according to Hastings.

Once LMPC finalizes its work, the proposed ordinance will go to a joint meeting of LMPC, the Planning Board, and Select Board this winter, and ultimately, LMPC and Hastings hope, to voters at town meeting in May.
