Congratulations to our 11-12 All Star team who won the District 6 Championship! They went undefeated (5-0) to beat a field of 13 leagues to become the District 6 Champs!
We want to celebrate this feat and wish them well on their quest to become the Maine State Champions in the state tournament that begins Saturday July 22.
Join us in celebrating on Friday the 21st as the team parades through New Gloucester and Gray. The fire department will leave the Amvets Hall in New Gloucester at 5:45, travel down route 100 into Gray center, and arrive behind Russell School for our BBQ fundraiser at Douglas Field, 17 Main Street in Gray. Come cheer on this amazing group of kids on their journey to the Little League World Series!!!
The BBQ will be from 6:00 – 7:30pm on Friday. The BBQ and fundraiser will assist families with their hotel expenses (they could play as many as three games in three days in Hermon, ME – so, we’d like to give them the opportunity to stay overnight and be fresh and ready for the games).
At the BBQ, we will have whiffle ball for the kids to play, burgers and dogs to eat, and a donation jar where you can help by donating funds for the team. You can also meet the players and congratulate them on their feat – something that no Gray-New Gloucester team (or any of our towns’ teams) has accomplished before.
We’re on the road to the Little League World Series, so come down and show your support!
Also, we need some volunteers to pull this off (grill masters, setup, teardown, food purchasers). If you can help, use this link to sign up.
We also need some pop up tents in case of rain. BBQ will be rain or shine (unless thunder and lightning).
