Library to host free Digital Skills series starting May 1

The New Gloucester Library will host a series of free workshops on practical digital skills starting Thursday, May 1, and running on into summer. Topics include email basics, video-conferencing (think Zoom), avoiding scams and more.

“We’ve very excited to collaborate with the National Digital Equity Center on this,” said Library Director Emily Martin. “I think it will open up doors and be really helpful for people in the community.” The National Digital Equity Center offers similar programs across Maine and around the country, Martin notes.

You can choose which workshop(s) to attend, but space is limited. Register online at this link. Slots are already filling! The workshops will meet at the Library and be facilitated by staff and trained volunteers.

As you’ll see when registering, some of the workshops are hands-on; others are of the “just bring yourself” variety. For the hands-on sessions, attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptops or devices. The Library also has a few loaner laptops, Martin says.
