As summer approaches, there is a lot happening around town. Here are highlights of June events from the NGXchange calendar:
We encourage all voters to mark their calendar for Election Day, June 11. Vote at the New Gloucester Fire Station from 6am-8pm. Visit the Town of New Gloucester’s election information page to request an absentee ballot or view sample ballots. Read candidate profiles here and here.
Congrats to our GNG High Schoolers who will be graduating on June 5 at the Cross Insurance Arena!
The Friends of the New Gloucester Public Library are hosting a Silent Auction on June 2, followed by their Spring Book and Bake Sale on Sunday, June 9.
Looking to get outdoors this month? Learn to play pickleball, or improve your skills, with lessons hosted by GNG Rec at Rowe Station. Join Royal River Conservation Trust on June 22 for a preview of the planned River Elf Trail. Or join the Pineland Farms Run Club.
Brickyard Hollow kicks off the month with its One-Year Anniversary Celebration with food deals and music from Graci Gillen. They continue their regular music series with various artists including Xander Nelson, Andy Rice, Graci Gillen, Jonah Bruce, Matthew Carlson, The Remainders, JT Horne, and Willy Martin & The Woods.
Many more food and drink-related events take place in June. Black Tie Catering’s Gather summer series of outdoor culinary events kicks off on June 14 with Austin Street Brewing. Pineland Farms offers Cheese Making and Dairy Tours, and they will host a free Fathers’ Day Weekend wine tasting event on June 14. For those who could use some help accessing food, the New Gloucester Food Pantry is open twice monthly on Saturdays.
Shaker Village is offering a host of craft workshops – shibori dyeing, basket making, embroidery, block printing and more! If you’d rather buy crafts than make them, head to Thompson’s Orchard for their Artisan Fair, June 15 and 16.
Kid-friendly events include movie matinees and story time at the New Gloucester Public Library. Pineland Farms offers numerous events and workshops for kids—special offerings in June include ice cream making and salsa making.
We hope you all have a fun and safe start to summer!
