First NGFR unit on scene: NG Ambulance 1
General Incident Description: At 1742hrs, New Gloucester Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident involving multiple vehicles. New Gloucester Ambulance 1 arrived on scene and found two vehicles in the parking lot of Intervale Pizza with heavy rear end damage, and then located a third vehicle with heavy passenger side damage further down the road in front of 433 Intervale Rd. Ambulance 1 took a position by the third vehicle as Engine 2 was arriving on scene. Engine 2 stopped at Intervale Pizza to assess the first two damaged vehicles. Two occupants from the third vehicle had self-extricated and the crew from Ambulance 1 began to assess them for injuries.
Engine 2 moved to assist Ambulance 1’s crew, check the vehicle for hazards, and establish traffic control around the scene. Squad 1 arrived on scene and took a position at Intervale Pizza to provide support at that scene and slow traffic down as it proceeded down the hill. One occupant of the third vehicle was transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Crews remained on scene to provide traffic control while the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office investigated and until the vehicle could be removed by a wrecker. All companies were back in service by 1849hrs
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
