Intervale Pizza beer/wine license and Quarry Road top January 9 Select Board agenda

A public hearing and review of Intervale Pizza’s request for an on-premises beer and wine license and the possible seasonal closure of Quarry Road to through traffic are among items on the Select Board’s Monday, January 9, agenda.

Also slated for discussion are current board and committee charges, a revised salary scale for town staff, planning grants for the Upper Village and a new media policy, among other topics.

The meeting begins at 7 pm in the Meetinghouse and will be broadcast on local cable and live-streamed on Castus Cloud at this link. The board meeting will be preceded by an executive session at 6:15 to discuss a real estate matter.

Intervale Pizza beer/wine license public hearing and review. Erik Desjarlais of Intervale Pizza and Village Market, at 405 Intervale Road in the Lower Village, is requesting a license to serve beer and wine on premises. The business currently offers retail sales of beer, wine, cider and other beverages. The public hearing will be the first item of business at the January 9 meeting, and the public is invited to comment. Read the application at pp. 3-10 of the meeting agenda packet.

Quarry Road closure. The board will consider seasonal closure of Quarry Road to through traffic. Quarry Road, located across Route 26 from Outlet Road, has long attracted dumping, vandalism, unauthorized camping and fires, according to representatives of Shaker Village. With much of it gravel surface, Quarry Road was closed last year for mud season. Read background at this link.

Updated town staff salary scale. With budget season under way, the board will consider updated salary ranges for town employee positions, based on compensation surveys of comparable communities. Review the document at pp. 16-17.

Board and Committee charges, current activities. The board plans to review the charges of town boards and committees and their current activities. Read the list of committees and their charges at pp. 29-31.

Grant options to support Upper Village planning. Town Planner Natalie Thomsen will present grant options for preliminary work—boundary and resource surveys, analysis of plans and zoning—to help move forward plans for the Upper Village. pp. 11-15.

Proposed media policy. Town Manager Bill Kerbin is proposing a media policy for the town . Review it at pp. 32-34.
