Gray-New Gloucester Adult Education proudly celebrated the largest graduating class in recent memory. This year 21 adult learners successfully completed the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) or earned their Adult Diploma, marking a significant milestone in their educational and personal journeys.

The graduation ceremony took place on June 12th at 6pm at Gray-New Gloucester High School. Director Stephanie Haskins spoke of the hard work and courage it took for these graduates to walk through the door and persevere through the process of earning their credential.

“We’re so proud of each and every one of these graduates. They have shown true grit and determination earning their credential,” said Stephanie Haskins, Director of Gray-New Gloucester Adult Education. “Each graduate has overcome unique challenges to get here, and I feel so lucky to be part of a community that supports this opportunity for them.”

In addition to Director Stephanie Haskins, Program Coordinator Theresa Boynton, Advisors Kathryn McGill-Cavallero and Maureen Mitchell, and Instructor Sheila Myhaver, the ceremony was attended by Superintendent, Dr. Chanda Turner, teachers, family and friends, all there to support the graduates.

Diplomas were presented by Haskins and Theresa Boynton to Charity Bell, Sarenna Collins, Christian Deschenes, Cole Frey, Dakota Haney, Jeremiah Harvey, Santiago Lanigan, Joshua LaRose, Julianna Lewis, Rocky Littlefield, Jasmyn Nason (DOE Diploma), Trinity Nason, Jack Sinnett, Sebastian Siu and Sunny Tabor. The following students also earned their credential but were not present: Calli Denbow, Gregory Erickson, Logan Little, Claudia Marden and Sierra Sowa.

The HiSET exam is a nationally recognized high school equivalency assessment that provides adults with the opportunity to earn a credential equivalent to a traditional high school diploma. Gray-New Gloucester Adult Education offers free classes, tutoring, and support services to help learners prepare for and pass the exam.

Gray-New Gloucester Adult Education offers rolling admission, allowing adults to begin classes at any time. Anyone interested in pursuing their high school equivalency or furthering their education is encouraged to contact the program office at (207) 657-9612 or visit www.gngadulted.org.
