GRAY (WGME) – Gray-New Gloucester High School is growing new learning opportunities.
It was built through donations and grants over three years.
Teachers say the greenhouse gives students the opportunity to apply skills they’ve learned in the classroom in a hands-on learning environment.
“They are much more engaged and there’s much more buy-in and they get a lot more out of the experience when they are able to see and physically do the projects instead of just sitting in a classroom and reading on a PowerPoint,” teacher/greenhouse coordinator Laura Fralich said.
She says they’ll be growing flowers, vegetables and more year-round in the greenhouse.
Students also helped build the greenhouse itself.
