Filled sand buckets for New Gloucester neighbors in need

Request a filled sand bucket at the Library

It’s that time of year when snow and ice make getting out the door and into our cars a potentially dangerous activity.

Do you or does someone you know need a pre-filled bucket for sanding the driveway or steps this winter?

The Town of New Gloucester makes sand available to all residents at the Fire Station at 611 Lewiston Road (limit two five-gallon buckets per trip). But for some, it’s not easy to fill a sand bucket and lift it into a car or truck.

For those who are unable get to the sand pile at the Fire Station or manage a sand bucket by themselves, BLING (Building Livability in New Gloucester) has local volunteers who will deliver a filled sand bucket to your home on Saturday, January 20, from 9 am to noon.

Here are ways you can request a sand bucket:

  • Fill out a form available at the New Gloucester Public Library, 379 Intervale Road
  • Take one of the forms pinned to the Town Hall community bulletin board and put the completed form in the BLING box at the Library
  • Email blingnewgloucester@gmail.com with your name, address, email address and phone number (optional) or
  • Fill out a request form by clicking on this link.

Buckets will be collected at the end of the season.

And a special thanks to the local business and volunteers who are stepping up to help with this project.
