
The GNG Patriots fell short in their quarterfinal game against the higher-seeded Falmouth Navigators on Saturday, 62-45. The Patriots went on a 12-3 run in the third quarter to close the gap but ultimately couldn’t pull off the upset.
After the game GNG Athletics praised the team in a post on Facebook: “At one point in the season, this team was 2-10 and at the bottom of the standings. They found their groove and finished the season strong with a trip the Expo. Not how they wanted it to end, but there’s a lot to be proud of.”

Falmouth advances to face Fryeburg in the Class A South semifinals on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Fryeburg knocked out Greely on Saturday 51-31.
Meanwhile, the GNG girls start their playoffs on Monday with a quarterfinals game against the Kennebunk Rams. The Presidents Day match-up tips off at 1 p.m. at the Portland Expo. — J.C.
