Endorsing Peter Bragdon for New Gloucester’s Select Board

Letter to the Editor
|Peter Konstantin, Ph.D.|

As residents of New Gloucester since 2015, my wife Mary and I express our unequivocal support for Peter Bragdon’s re-election to the Select Board.

I am a retired biotech executive and Mary works as a research scientist in the field of GMO detection. Both, Mary and I believe Peter is singularly qualified for the position amid the town’s ongoing challenges.

Peter, who runs his own business, is known for his being a hard worker, his professionalism and dedication to his customers. He is always trying to find cost-effective solutions without compromising the project’s quality. He carries these attributes over to the position on the Select Board.  He does his homework prioritizing the town’s welfare over personal allegiances.

Furthermore, Peter’s community involvement is commendable. As Chair of the New Gloucester Community Fair, he ensures a well-coordinated, enjoyable event that fosters community spirit. His active role in church and philanthropic endeavors, such as the annual program connecting incarcerated parents with their children at Christmas reflects his caring nature. Peter’s contribution to the Root Cellar in Lewiston, particularly personally providing over 25 Thanksgiving food baskets to families in need, underscores his empathy and commitment to service.

Peter’s leadership during crises, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, and his management skills, evidenced in successful budget adjustments, hiring of long-term town manager and advancing recreation program, are invaluable. He has championed increased road maintenance, meeting house technology upgrades, Charter development and increased citizen participation. His dedication to making the Select Board transparent deserves recognition.

With his experience and knowledge, Peter Bragdon has been instrumental in representing the residents of New Gloucester. His continuity on the Select Board is essential for our town. I urge you to cast your vote for Peter on June 13th, to secure a leader who genuinely cares for our community.

Peter Konstantin Ph.D.
