Election-time update and reminders

New Gloucester’s June 8 election will be a historic one: election of six at-large members to the town’s first-ever Charter Commission, an unusual three open seats for select board, and an unprecedented second successive town-meeting-by-ballot-referendum.

With all that ahead and Election Day, Tuesday June 8, just around the corner, a few reminders and updates:

— Traditional in-person voting will take place at the Fire Station, 611 Lewiston Road, from 6 am to 8 pm on Tuesday June 8.

— Links to the (many) sample ballots can be found on the home page of the Town website: newgloucester.com

— Completed absentee ballots can be brought to the Town Office counter during business hours – but note the special Town Office closure on Tuesday June 8, below. Completed ballots can also be placed in the ballot drop box outside Town Hall by 8 pm election night. Don’t bring completed absentee ballots to the polls at the fire station on election day.

— The Town Office will be closed to general public business on Tuesday so that staff can work at the election. It will re-open on Wednesday June 9 at 8 am.
