After moving to Maine, Eileen was employed for nine years as Finance Director for the Portland YWCA. She was a member of the Summit Springs Golf Club, the Ladies League, and was active in the first Congregational Church of New Gloucester. She and Roy spent many years (well into their nineties) in the happy company of a group of friends, playing cards and dominoes, going to dinner at Rolandeau’s restaurant, and traveling the country. Eileen also joined a group of close fellow high school graduates for monthly luncheons until just a few years ago.

Eileen will be remembered by her family for entertaining her them on all sorts of occasions, frequently baking and decorating elaborate cakes for birthdays, graduations and weddings. She also taught her daughters and granddaughters the joys of sewing and knitting.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Cruz of New Gloucester and Jacalyn Young of Santa Rosa, CA; four grandchildren (Deborah Danforth of Auburn, Dale Young of Shelton, WA, Daniel Cruz of Vass, NC, and Frances Cruz of Los Angeles, CA); one great-grandchild (Kelsey Earle of Mechanic Falls), one great-great-grandchild (Kelsey’s son, Kai Wesley Earle), and three generations nieces and nephews.
