General Incident Description: At 7:47 PM, New Gloucester Fire Rescue was dispatched to assist the Maine Warden Service with a wilderness rescue. A hiker had gone off the trail and could not walk out due to a leg injury. Ambulance 1 and Engine 2 responded, with multiple other members responding directly to the scene. Due to the nature of the call, UTVs from Gray Fire Rescue and North Yarmouth Fire Rescue were requested to the scene.
A1 and E2 arrived on scene and made contact with the warden who had located the victim and followed him to the victim. A command post was established at the trailhead and resources were staged at that location. Additional manpower went in to assist with the patient and Gray’s UTV was sent in to transport the patient out of the woods to A-1. North Yarmouth’s UTV was held in reserve at the command post. The patient was transferred to A-1 and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
All companies were back in service by 8:30.
