Dear MSAD15 community,
After careful consideration, Superintendent King has announced he will be taking an extended medical leave of absence. His last day will be Friday, November 15, and he will not return prior to the end of his contract at the end of June. For the remainder of the school year, MSAD15 Director of Curriculum and Staff Development, Dr. Chanda Turner, will serve as Interim Superintendent.
Dr. King has served as MSAD15’s superintendent for more than eight years, providing strong and thoughtful leadership through some very difficult times. Most recently before coming to Gray-New Gloucester, Dr. King served as the superintendent of RSU10, as principal of Mt. Ararat High School, and as the principal of Woodland Jr/Sr. High School. He has brought to our district not only a wealth of educational expertise, but more importantly a mindset of service and advocacy for all students across the entirety of their academic careers.
I and the MSAD15 Board of Directors support Dr. King in his decision. I hope you’ll join us in thanking Dr. King for his years of service and for the growth he has helped our district achieve, and in wishing him support as he focuses on his health.
Dr. Turner is fully credentialed to serve as Interim Superintendent. I am confident that she will expertly guide our schools’ administration as we work through a comprehensive search to identify Dr. King’s permanent replacement at the head of our district.
Penny Collins
Chair, MSAD15 Board of Directors
