Do you have questions or ideas about the town’s draft ordinance regulating large solar arrays, or just want to learn more about solar energy in town?  Come to a public workshop with the Land Management Planning Committee on Wednesday October 23 at 5:30 pm at the Meetinghouse, 389 Intervale Road.

Over the last several months, LMPC members and town planner Scott Hastings have worked up a draft ordinance that addresses scale and siting of ground-mounted arrays, the review process for projects, protection against abandonment, and more.  Read the current draft ordinance here

The effort was prompted by word of solar developers seeking significant acreage in town for large-scale commercial projects.  In June residents passed a moratorium on solar development to give LMPC time to research and prepare a comprehensive ordinance.  The goal is to finalize an ordinance in time for consideration at the next town meeting.

To learn more, come to the workshop on Wednesday October 23 at 5:30 and share your thoughts and concerns.  For additional information, contact town planner Scott Hastings at shastings@newgloucester.com or 207-926-4126 x4.
